Former & Updated Cancer Center

The original upgrade in 2010 was a joint effort between Heartland Health, St. Francis Hospital, the St. Francis Auxiliary and the St. Francis Hospital Foundation.

The current cancer center opened in 2018, utilizing space inside the hospital with seven infusion bays and three clinic rooms in an environment that matches the exceptional care.

Updated Healing Garden

In 2019, the St. Francis Foundation raised funds to create a healing garden. This endeavor would create a private entrance for patients, with a shorter walking distance, and specific parking spaces. The garden was designed to have blooms from early spring into late fall and green to carry through the winter.

The creation of a healing environment to match the quality, compassionate care received in the Grateful for the care he received over the years at
St. Francis Hospital, HORACE A. “JIMMY” JONES would go on to leave his estate (totaling nearly $7M) to the St. Francis Hospital Foundation. This historical gift changed the entire trajectory of the work and care the foundation has been able to pour back into the hospital and community. After the completion of private patient rooms for the hospital, the endowment has funded millions of dollars of capital equipment and facility upgrades for the hospital over the past 20 years.

The Tobins

Brothers BILL AND VINCE TOBIN gained notoriety with storied careers as players, coaches, and executives in the NFL, but they never forgot about their roots. Wanting to give back to the community that gave them so much, the brothers created a golf tournament, where proceeds would directly support the needs of the hospital through the St. Francis Hospital Foundation. Over the 25 years of “The Tobin,” the tournament would raise more than $1.2M that would directly support hospital equipment needs to ensure the highest quality care available for their hometown.

Robert & Loretta Stoll

ROBERT & LORETTA STOLL left their nearly $1M estate to the St. Francis Hospital Foundation for the purpose of capital equipment upgrades and the creation of the Stoll Scholarship. Since its inception in 2011, the scholarship has granted more than 30 Nodaway County students financial support for nursing school.

Instrumental in the first remodel of the cancer center during her time as the nurse liaison for the breast cancer program, TERI HARR (pictured with Dr. Rony Abou-Jawde) will continue to do anything for local cancer patients, including dressing up like Cindy Lou Who for the Maryville Grinch Contest. That year she raised more than $3,000 for the foundation’s cancer care patient assistance program.

After watching her mother spend her life taking care of patients as a nurse in the original St. Francis Hospital, DONNA HOLT chooses to spend her life in service to others. The St. Francis Hospital Foundation and Auxiliary have been fortunate to be the recipient of many, many hours and years of service to our local hospital.
No one loves Mosaic caregivers more than MAURICE PEVE. He generously gave back through the building of a beautiful caregiver zone for caregivers to connect and recharge. Through this endowment, the Peve Award for Caregiver Excellence was established. CHARLOTTE BROWN, longtime environmental services caregiver was the first recipient of the award. Unbeknownst to us, Charlotte took care of his late wife, Florene before she passed from cancer. This moment embodies a lifetime love and gratitude
